How do you install a lens filter?

Just bought a sony a200 and I have no idea how to put the lens filter on with the lens that came with the camera.

I just screws on the front of the lens.

My guess is you will find taking a class a good way to learn how to use your camera quickly with the least grief and frustration.

The filter screws directly on the front of the lens (remove the lens cap first). Did you buy it with the 18-70 zoom lens? If so, it has a filter size of 55mm. There is a symbol on the front of the lens that looks like a Ghost busters sign with a number after it. That's your filter size.
Is this a protective filter (sky 1a, or UV)? If so, I commend you on buying some protection for the front of your lens. Better to replace a cheap filter than a whole lens.
If you haven't yet invested in good lens cleaning supplies, I'd recommend that you do. (And not a cheap $5.00 kit). It should include quality lens wipes, lens fluid, a lens brush, and hurricane blower.
