What kind of security camera should I get for outside at night?

The neighbor had his car paint-balled and his window should out with a pellet gun. The other neighbor has had his house broken into at night and his mailbox destroyed. My mom had her car broken into.

Last night my car was egged. Next time I could have my windows smashed or my tires slashed. I know the group of people who are doing it but the police won't do anything but file the complaints.

Is there a camera I can get for outside that mount to my garage with a wide angle lens, that hooks up to a computers hard drive and records 24/7. It must have night vision and be able to see a good distance away. The punks that are doing it live about 300 yards away.

Is there one I can get for under $200?

you are better off trying to find a sony video camera and a wide angle lens for it. I have seen them go for as low as $50 on ebay.

look for:
trv108
trv37
trv68
trv58
trv67
trv57
and any camera with nightshot, the camera can be used with the charger as a power supply. set the cam to LP and maybe try to start filming from 11:00 and on when the punks are active.

I don't know what the evidence standards are where you live, but in the UK you wouldn't have a hope. A lot of the security cameras being put up by local councils produce video that's too low quality to be used in court, and they cost thousands!

You may want to put up a wireless spy camera. Check this out http://www.video-surveillance-guide.com/...

Sam's Club sells several for outdoors under $200 but you may pay more for a night vision camera.

I can't recommend a brand but it's worth checking them out...

This may be worth considering...
