Any idea on how I can fix this HP M-425 Digital 5.0 Camera?

I might have to buy a new one. I had never dropped it before and for 5 years it's been great. BUT NOW, when I try to turn it on...I get "Lens Error M425L"
If anyone has this camera or knows what I might be able to do I would so much appreciate any advice....thanks so much.

NOW the lens won't come out. I turn it on and it says error then shuts itself off. I did as HP told me to do. I removed the batteries and the smart card. THEN put the batteries back in without the card...And turned it on...got the same thing. He didn't know what else to offer me for help.

Pretty much, the camera is broken and there's nothing you can do to fix it, other than to either replace it or have it repaired by a pro.

Basically, something is wrong with the lens motor (likely stripped gears or something mechanical) or lens elements and your camera just won't activate.

Unfortunately, it'll probably cost as much to repair as it would to get a new camera.
