PLEASE help me fix my digital camera?

it was in my backpack (on my back) when i was on a roller coaster..but a soda in my bag started leaking and when i got off the ride the camera was wet (not soaked tho) and i wiped it off well and it worked fine. a little later though.. the screen was normal but very dark.. even on the brightest setting. and the camera started randomly turning off. i wiped the lens but what else can i do? i dont want to risk taking it apart,

omg nevermind i fixed it!! on the screen theres still these vertical lines and a little blotch in the corner.. from the spill inside the lens or something. but its working fine other than that!

Soda inside the camera and you didnt take the batteries out imediately. Your probably just going to wind up buying another camera.

You should have powered down as soon as you thought there was a problem and taken the batteries out. But even then you might still have the sticky pop in the wrong places causing mischief.

Your next camera that you buy you may want to think of getting the 2 year extended warranty. 1 year probably wont get used and 3-4 year warranties are almost the price of a new camera. A ziplock bag would have helped too.

Good luck.

@ George: Theres a reason they call it an EXTENDED warranty. The ones from Kits/Ritz/Wolf Cameras cover ANYTHING except theft or loss. You can be at fault and they will fix/replace your camera. Including soda.

Warranties cover camera defects, not accidents. Even if your camera is under the manufacturer's warranty, they won't repair it.

Most likely, you have soda residue on the electronic components inside, and if it's repairable, you'll need a professional to do it.

Depending on the value of the camera, you may just need to buy a new one, as repairs will run over $100, if a service center needs to open and clean the camera body.

The best thing you can do is take it to the place where you got it and ask if they can look at it. You should have warranty on it if you haven't had it too long.

I say open up the battery latch, and clean that out, and possibly change the battery!
