i am looking for something with at least 7MP and 10x optical zoom.
i would use it for landscapes, macro, and various art projects.
i do not want to pay more than 660 USD (USA dollars), or 800 AUD
i have looked at:
olympus sp 550, 510
fujifilm finepix s5700, s9600
kodak easyshare Z712 IS, Z710, P712
canon powershot TX1
sony CZ DSCH5B, DSCH5S
panasonic lumix DMC-FZ8, DMC-FZ50, DMC-TZ3
the only brands available to me in Australia are Canon, Fujifilm, kodak, nikon, olympus, panasonic (lumix), Pentax, Ricoh, Sony, Vivitar.
NB I also have kodak easyshare software on my computer. Fuji S9600.
It starts wider than most of the camera's on your list (it starts at 28mm - most of the other camera's on your list start at 35-38mm) so it is more useful for landscape shots and Fuji has an excellent sensor for low light photo's. The main drawback is it does not have image stabilization which can be useful for minimizing lens shake on long zooms.
Or the Panasonic TZ3.
It also starts wider (28mm) and does not go as long as the Fuji. The Fuji has a 28-300mm lens, while the Panasonic has a 28-280mm lens. And it has image stabilization. But Panasonic is known to have a very "noisy" sensor - lots of grain in your pics if shooting at high ISO - not good in low light or indoors. And it does not have a viewfinder. You have to use the LCD. suggestion

it's very helpfull .....i use it alot when i'm not sure about a camera ...... and after u reduce ur options to 2 or 3 brands or models .......post a question and we will gladly try to help u ..... good luck Have a look at the Panasonic Lumix series. I have 2 of them & just love them. The 12x optical zoom is great. The lenses are plastic but a new innovation from Leica; the camera body is a high impact plastic so these factors combine to make a camera lighter than others of its size.
Goodluck. |
