It almost looks as though I'm holding my hand over the bottom of the lense. There are no funny sounds, it sounds as though it always has. I've taken thousands of pics w/this camera, is it just worn out, or fixable? I've changed lenses, and it still does the same thing. It just started today, in the middle of taking pics. I haven't dropped it, not frozen or high humidity. It's been to China and back (literally), and I've taken tons of pics. Is it fixable? What do you think the problem is? The first 2 has a point, it you plan on a new media card I'd like to recommend a high quality one from SanDisc their Extreme III. We use them in my XTi and wives Fuji S5000 (XD card). You might want to try a couple of things first. Try using a different memory card. I had an HP before and the card was the issue. Second, you might want to try a couple of different lenses. Lastly, if all else fails, the problem might be in your mirror. While the noise it makes remains the same, it might not be lifting as far as it should (assuming it is an Single Reflex Digital Rebel). Are you using a cheap flash? This sounds like the shutter speed is too fast, and the flash is only exposing part of the sensor because the shutter is too fast.
So, check your shutter speed first (if you're using it with flash).
If you're not using flash, then the next thing to look at is whether the black is a straight line or kind of wavy. A wavy edge usually means the mirror isn't working right and is bouncing at the end of travel.
You can also take the lens off, trip the shutter and see if the mirror goes all the way up or sticks partway.
Finally, does the problem occur when you use slower shutter speeds or only fast ones? It might be a sticky shutter. |
