hi, i just got the canon digital rebel xti and i was wondering about the display. you know how the screen has all this information about the picture and stuff? well is there any way i can have it so i won't have to put my face up to the camera (like just holding the camera up, and looking at the screen so i'll see what the camera is looking at)?

thanks! Ok so heres the scoop. Since what you see in the viewfinder is what is coming through the lens there is a mirror in front of the sensor (digitals version of film) to redirect the image up to the viewfinder. The mirror has to move out of the way to let you take a picture thus the sensor cannot display the image with the mirror in the way. Canons latest pro camera has a live view feature, but that thing is $4500.00. There is an add-on device that will let you do what you want with your Rebel XTi in a round about way. Its made by zigview and its basically a tiny camera and tiny monitor that you attatch to your view finder. Its kind of spendy but if thats what you want your digital slr, or film slr for that matter, to do then here's a solution.
Bellow are three different models. I have bought a few things from these guys but nothing too spendy. I would trust these guys, the better business bureau has them as a member and thats usually a good sign. No. You'd have to have a point and shoot for that feature. It's a digital SLR camera...so you have to look through the viewfinder to compose your photo.
But surely you would have learnt this if you had done your research...or at the very least, tried the camera out in the store. |
