Which Digital Camera would you pick from my list?

Which Digital Camera would you recommend and why?

Canon Powershot S3 IS
Sony Cybershot H5
Panasonic DMC-FZ7
Olympus SP-500UZ
Fujifilm FinePix S5200

I would have a tough time choosing between the Sony and the Canon, but probably would end up with the Sony H5.

I looked at the Sony H1 and H5, along with the Canon S2 and S3 earlier this year. I concluded that they are all about the same picture quality. The Sonys are a little faster; the Canons have a little bit better video and multi-shot capability. The Sony's have much bigger LCD's; the Canons have movable LCD's.

The Panasonic FZ7 felt/looked more like a toy (although pic quality is very good). (I almost bought the FZ30, though.) The Fuji's viewfinder was hard for me to see through. The Olympus didn't have image stabilization.

I ended up with the Sony H1 for $350 as best combo of features and price.

Make sure that you go and hold each of these. I felt that each had a different feel.

Sony Cybershot H5

I bought the Canon recently because it ranked 1st on the Consumer Reports ratings and because it's features fit mine the best. High quality pictures, compact, long battery life, and swivel LCD.

The Canon Powershot S3 IS has been #2 on the Comcast Shopping popularity list almost sinec it was introduced. My daughter JUST got the S2 and she is in love with it already. She has had a smaller digital camera and also a Canon Rebel 35 mm, so she has a bit of background for the basis of comparison. I know nothing about the other cameras, but I know that you will like the S3.
