Need help with my digital camera?

Late i was taken some pictures, then i turn it off. when i turn it on again, screen just turn black. tried to get it back but i cant. my camer is Canon IXY digital 200a. i really need help on this.

it turns on but it just a black screen. and when i took a shot. it doesnt have the "click" sound.

Check the battery - I think that takes one of the Li-Ion types - so pop it in the charger for a couple hours (just to get enough juice for a quick test).

If it still doesn't power on there could be a few different things that would cause this.
1) Lens - dirt, sand, even dust can cause the lens to jam or malfunction. This will cause the lens to either not extend or extend partially and try to pull back in again. Either way the camera will not work in camera mode. Switch it to play-back. If still nothing... see below.

2) There is a switch inside that detects whether or not the battery door it open or closed. It could be the switch is damaged or the part of the battery door that pushes the switch when it is closed is broken.

3) Possibly something else has happend to the camera - ie: shock or impact, liquid, etc. It is even possible for it to be anything from a stuck button (unlikely) to some part of the circuitry to just fail.

4) This leads me to one more possibility... If the camera turns on and everything appears to work properly but you just don't get any pictures (they are all black) there are two things that could be the cause.
a) Shutter - stuck closed for some reason. Nothing you do will fix this problem. It will have to be repaired. Turn the flash off (to not blind yourself) and zoom the lens all the way out. Then look down the lens barrel and take a picture. You should see a shutter close and open. If it does... then see below. If it doesn't, then the shutter is jammed.
b) Faulty CCD - I'm not sure if this model is part of the CCD Service Advisory - but call Canon and ask. This will result in distorted images or no images at all. Manufacturers are repairing some models at little or no charge at all. As far as I know ONLY the manufacturer will do this type of repair for free.

Otherwise:
I think the average rate of repair on that model in the US is ~ $100.

Check around and see if you can find someone to repair it for you.

Batteries..

Its the batteries. If you have a rechargeable battery, then it sounds like its going bad. Time for a replacement, and hopefully all will be great again for you.

Life's too short to not take an abundance of pictures!!!

Is the camera actually turning on? (does it have a motorized lens or do any LEDs turn on?)

If not, batteries are probably dead. If it turns on but the screen is just blank, you probably accidentally turned it off, there should be a display button to turn it back on.
