Can a camcorder take pictures like a camera? To be specific the Canon ZR-600 MiniDV Digital Camcorder?

well dont know that model but me jvc mini dv can take pics but the put them onto the tape and last 5 seconds if you have a program that can take a pic of the film while playing then you can save them but its jsut an extra stepp so just go buy a cheep digital camera or save and buy a good one

My Canon camcorder (MV750i) has a slot for a SD card on to which you can record both short videos and still pictures. However, the still are captured at under 1mp in size, and are no replacement for those taken on my DSLR.
