What's the difference between the Canon A710 IS and Canon A720 IS digital cameras?

And why is the A710 IS more expensive?

The 720 was announce August 2007 while the 710 is a year older. Street price for the 720 is $20 more then the 710. The 710 has a 7 megapixel sensor, but the 720 has 8 megapixels. The 710 has both shutter and aperture priority, and the 720 has neither. In a continuous mode the 710 fires at 1.7 frames per second (fps) while the 720 does 1.3 -- no big deal...but -- and the 720 weighs one ounce more then the 710. Bottom line -- the 720 is a much better camera with its 8 megapixels for only $20 more. The name of this game is all about megapixel size of the sensor.

Not a lot ... just a tiny difference in the MP count on the A720. You will notice when you follow the link that the A710 is priced about $25 less than the A720.
