I installed the Zoom browser Ex form the utilities CD of my Canon Power Shot A620 digital camera and when I connect it trough the USB cable, it's not recognised !!!
Someone, please help me ! First, (assuming you have Windows XP) you want to temporarily remove any imaging devices from any USB ports on the back of the computer (i.e., any combination of printer, scanner, copier, fax machines).
Then go to Start, then go to Run, then type in "services.msc" (without the quotation marks). Look for 3 things; Canon Camera Access Library 8, SSDP Discovery Services, and Windows Image Acquisition (WIA). Make sure they all read "Started" under the Status column and "Automatic" under the Startup Type column. If they aren't started & automatic, double-click the service. Under the General tab, change the startup type to automatic and click the start button to start the service. After that is done, you can close down the Local Services window.
Now try & connect the camera to one of the USB ports in the back of the computer. If you get the "Found New Hardware" window and the Canon Camera Window pops up asking you to select a program, choose Camera Window. It will walk you through the rest.
If it does not give you the Camera Window a few seconds after you plug in the camera, just go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Scanner & Camera Wizard. That should walk you through the rest.
Hope that helps! It is always best to download all your images to the computer before you do any browsing, editing or make changes in the images. Once you have copied the images to your computer, you should be just fine.
The computer should have recognized your camera as a new USB device the first time you connected it and then all you had to do is drag and drop the images file to a folder of your choice.
The alternative is to buy a card reader (under $10) and load the images to your computer that way.
And remember to always make a CD of all your images before you start modifying them. That way you will always have a copy of the originals. There is an OS service added with the new ZoomBrowser software called Canon Camera Access Library. This allows the camera to communicate with the software properly.
Follow these steps to ensure the service is setup to start properly:
1. Click on START and then RUN.
2. In the dialog box type in SERVICES.MSC
3. Press ENTER or click on OK.
4. Right click on Canon Camera Access Library service and choose PROPERTIES. The Canon Camera Access Library service startup must be seton Automatic.
5. Next click on the DEPENDENCIES tab; you will see that the service is depending on 2 services of the operating system: SSDP Discovery Service and WIA. Check to ensure that those are set to automatic. If any of these two are disabled, Canon service won't start and you won't be able to use ZoomBrowser to download images from camera to your system.6. Sometimes I have problems like this too. What I sometimes do is unplug the cable from both ends and replug it back into the camera as will into the USB port. If that does not work, try restarting the computer. |
