Regarding digital cameras, which should I pick: 4MP or 5MP?

I'm trying to decide between two Canon digital cameras: Canon A520 (4MP) and A610 (5MP). I think they share almost every feature except for the MPs.

More MPs is better. If you aren't aware of that fact, you should probably do more research on digital cameras before buying one. Here is a good reference site:

well u can have bigger clearer pictures with the 5 mp then with the 4

5mp! i suggest 6 actually

The bigger the number the higher resolution, so go with 5 mp or 6 if possible. You might pay a bit more but the quality will prove itself in the first batch you print. Happy shopping!

hi,,im working in the software imaging programs ,,look if u wann to download oictures,,,taken...... use less resolution so 4 mp is enough ,,bcz download will be faster and small file size,,if u need cam for enjoyment,,use 5 bcz it give more resolution and more detailed pic

Mega pixels are not actually measures of qualityand or resolution, but instead measures of size. Even if a camera saves pictures as 10MP, the image quality can be really bad. A 1 MP camera can take really good quality pictures, even if they are small. Taking out of account the MP number, I would go for the A610.

Oh, I'd go with the Canon A610 hands down. Not only does it have more features and a larger screen, the screen actually flips out and can be turned around and oriented to almost any angle and when you aren't using it, it can be turned face in so that the screen side is protected when you aren't using the camera. I don't know what version of the DIGIC processor the A520 has, I want to say version 1, slow! The A610 has version 2 making it start up faster, shoot faster and save images, faster, in fact the A610 does just about everything faster.

Now, the A520 uses 2AA batteries and the A610 uses 4AA batteries but the A610 will give you 500 shots on a single charge using NiMH rechargeable batteries, 1500 if you turn the LCD off. The A610 is my pick and made "The Best" list over at Steves-Digicams, http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_came... for another review go to Dpreview, http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona62...

Note that the A610 and A620 are basically the same camera, the only difference being the A620's 7 Megapixel resolution and remote capture capability, other than that, the cameras are the same.

It all depends, on what you are going to use it for..A picture taken on a 4MP camera, will look the same as a 5MP, when viewed on a computer..You will find no difference, when printing them out either..With the 4MP camera, you will be able to make high quality prints, up to about 12x18 inches..You will be able to make larger prints, with a 5MP camera..A 4MP camera, will print an 8x10 picture, as clear as a 5MP camera..If you are going to print pictures, 4x7, a 4MP camera will work just great, also a 8x10 will print out just as good as the 5MP will..When you get into a much larger print, then you might want to use a 5MP camera..
