When buying a digital camera what does it mean when it says...?

Canon PowerShot Pro Series digital camera, powershot S3 IS Body. What does it mean body? Does this mean it has no lense? Thank you in advance for the help.

The Canon Powershot camera definitely comes with a lens. What I believe they are referring to here, is that the camera body incorporates "IS" or image stabilization. This is the true optical IS and not the fake digital technique that some cameras use (boosting ISO) which degrades image quality.

This is quite a nice camera, if it's what you want, then go ahead and buy it, there's no reason it won't turn out high quality images. The lens specifications are quite good too.

body only means just that "body only". lens not included, sold separate.
the only other items that the camera usually does come with is accessories such as battery, charger, software, and neck strap.

Where are you buying this camera from? The camera has to have a lens. It's attached. It's a super zoom at 12X optcal. Normally that means without lens as in a digital single lens reflex camera, which this is not. Buy from somewhere else.

While generally, if it says 'body' or 'body only', it's a DSLR where the lens doesn't necessarily come with it.
However- with the Canon PowerShot- the lens is attached, so there's no way for them to sell it without the lens.

Sounds like just a typo on the web site.

oh- Canon has a newer model, the S5 IS out. It's 8Mpix and has a larger LCD on the back. It's available for about $450. Not the cheapest ultra-zoom out there, but a good one.
