New digital camera question?

I am going to buy a new digital camera, either a Canon or Olympus and want to know if any rechargable AA battery will work as well as the brand of camera I select. I know the camera companies say that their brand of battery works best, but would it be just as good to put in a lithium or rechargable Energizer, etc?

Thanks for any help,

Bill

First, you will not be disappointed if you choose Canon. It's the much better choice, IMHO.
Any brand of battery will work, so don't bother with camera brand batteries.

You can use rechargeable NiMH (2700mAh, highly recommended). Energizer is a good brand.
Some things to remember...
They will not hold a full charge until they have been used and recharged a few times.
They are designed to discharge at the rate of about 1/2-1% per day when not used, so always make sure to charge them at least one day, or on the day you intend to use the camera.

Or if you don't use rechargeable...you should use lithium (Energizer e2). They are expensive, but provide plenty of power for up to 500 shots...and they don't drain their power when not used.
The lithium batteries are not as cost effective as rechargeables, because they are throwaway, but are perfect as a backup or if you're a casual camera user.

Never use ordinary alkaline batteries, which are useless to use in a high drain power device such as a digital camera.
good luck...

Any brand should work just as well...

The best sort of rechargable battery, in my opinion, are Nickel Metal Hydrides (NiMH). If you buy a couple of packs of those, with a capacity of 2000mAH or higher, you'll find them ideal.

I am a photographer and I have had both Canon and Olympus cameras. I never liked using rechargeables. I find the best batteries to use for any digital camera are the ones specially made for digital cameras. Both Energizer and Duracell sell them they are at most major electronic stores by the camera section. You could even use regular batteries too. Never use the cheap radio shack ones or pansonic or any of those "cheapy" brands... stick with the well known brand names and you'll be fine.

I have a really battery consuming camera. I have tried many different kinds of batteries and found that the energizer rechargeable work great! They give you around a day or two of charge and don't take very long to charge back up.
