What is the best Digital Camera for a professional to use for wedding, or portrait, Canon or Nikon?

I've answered similar questions like this - I always maintain that the brand wars are purely subjective. Cameras take pictures.

If you want to take really good images, develop your skills as a photographer.

The brands offer only minor differences.. user interface (try your comera out, you obviously need to find something you feel better handling),

but in any case, digital slrs are high end instruments designed to take excellent images and offer a range of options to the photographer. What pictures come out is soley a function of the photographer's skill, and most often than not, brands are picked because of familiarity, the fact that a photographer already has a bunch of lenses and accesories for that brand, and an overall particular fondness on a brand based on their past experiences.

The CAnon professional cameras take the best photos. But the Nikons can be had cheaper with equivalent lenses. The Nikon D50 is the cheapest of the good digital SLR caomeras.

Complex question that will pit the Canon guys versus the Nikon guys. Don't expect any objectivity. I will tell you that Nikon is superior for weddings for two reasons. Higher up Nikons like D200 or D2x do a slightly better job at skin tones. Also, Nikon does have a superior flash photography solution with wireless flash systems build right inot the camera.
