Nikon,Canon or Sony which is the best Digital camera?

I have a Sony Cyber shot with a Carl Zeiss 10x digital zoom that I have had for about 4 yrs now, paid about 600.00 bucks for it. It is still like new, but for some reason when you look through the lens everything looks long or stretched out, I figure one of the kids dropped it or something. I was looking for another camera but dont want to spend that kind of money again.

What is your budget?

Canon has all sort of digital cameras for novice, intermediate and professionals. You can get point-and-shoot, compact or DSLR for starters and pros.

sony..but olympus is better than sony

sony's have nice lens. canon's designs are better. and personally i don't really like nikon. I'd probably go with Canon, since they have more designs and they're features are better.

I own a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2, and I wouldn't trade it for the world (unless someone wanted to trade it for a digital slr).It's 12x optical zoom, 6 megapixels.
If you're looking for a non super zoom, there are plenty to choose from including Olympus, Fuji, and Panasonic.
In general for a simple point and shoot at say 3 or 4 megapixels I'd buy a Canon or Fuji, and for super zooms I'd go with Sony, Canon, and Fuji. How much are you spending?

None of your Memory Sticks will work on the other cameras. They use the more common SD and CF memory cards.

Both Nikon and Canon are the choice of the pros.

Do not base your decision on brand alone. All of the manufacturers that you mentioned make good cameras. The quality of the pictures that these camera makers make are so identical that the skill of the photographer would be the bigger factor in getting a good shot. Go to a store that displays cameras from these manufacturers. Try the one that your are interested in and check for things like size of LCD, brightness of viewfinder (if it has one), its weight, placement of controls, zoom range, and things that are important to you. If you have memory cards bring them to the store. Try them on the different cameras that you like and check them out in your computer. Although I said that their quality are almost identical, the camera process them differently that you will see differences in them like saturation, brightness, etc. But the bottom line is chose the one that meets your needs from any one of these manufacturers and you will be alright.
