I have made several movies over the past couple years. This includes downloading and incorporating digital shots from my Canon camera. Recently, on my last movie the Imovie crashed, and then my iphoto5 no longer reconizes jpeg while downloading from my digital camera.
I dinked around and got my imovie working again. I could not even tell you how. But, my iphoto will not download digital amymore. To add to my confusion, pictures already on iphoto are reconized. I reloaded the whole iphoto 5 application without success. I have a G4 emac. Obviously, I am not "apple savoy."
Thanks if you can help. Repair disk with your Disk Utility from your Install disk or if you have a bootable clone on an external drive, use Disk Utility from there.
Don't have a bootable clone or Install disks? Download AppleJack and run it in Auto mode.
Create a test account and see if the problem shows up there. If it didn't then something is wrong with your account, usually Fonts, Preference or Cache files.
Launch Font Book, All Fonts > Edit > Choose All. In File menu > Validate Fonts. It will show you if there is a corrupt Font(s).
Download Tiger Cache Cleaner or Onyx to clear User and System Cache files.
In your Home > Library > move the Preferences Folder to your Desktop. Logout and login to your account and try importing pics to iPhoto. If it works, one or more of the preference file(s) are corrupt. To find out which one, select 10? 15? 20? preference files and move them to the new Preference Folder that your Mac created in Home > Library, logout and in and test iPhoto. Keep moving sets of Preference files and logging out/in until you find a set of preference files that 'breaks' iPhoto. Move the last set that has the corrupt file back to the Desktop and move them one by one to the new Preferences Folder logging in and out and trying iPhoto each time until you find the one or more corrupt preference file, Trash corrupt file and keep testing the rest of the files.
If the same problem shows up in the test account then it's a system wide problem. I haven't been there and done that........yet, run the troubleshooting steps from these sites if that is the case.
