Buy a Canon PowerShot SD 850 IS Digital Camera or panasonic DMC T23?

i would go canon over panasonic on digital camera purchases anyday. go with the sd850is. i have the sd800is which is very similar to the 850 and it hasn't given me any problems in the past year and a half. canon products are always reliable and picture quality is unmatched by any other camera maker.

i would definetly go with the canon powershot because it has more options like color accent and things like that. Over all it just has more to offer

I just want to add that I have both a Canon and a Panasonic and I like them both! Canon is usually rated higher by most people but I have not had any trouble with my Panasonic & use it more than any of my cameras. I think you should check them both out in a store & see which one feels the best to you & has the most features that you personally will use.

If you want tremendous amount of zoom (optical) in a small camera, go for Panasonic DMC TZ3 (is that what you meant by T23). It has 10x optical zoom which is unmatched by any camera of that size. Picture quality is average or little better. Cannon ofcourse has better quality but zoom is only 3 times

Check out this comparison page. Click on "Read Owner Opinions" and see what several other people think. I see that the Canon Image Quality is rated MUCH higher by the users than the Panasonic is.
