I cannot open the battery compartment of my Canon Power shot A700 digital camera.?

something seems to have stuck inside.What do i do?

Take it to a Canon Camera Shop that has a service center. Don't try forcing it yourself. It could be nothing but if not then let the camera store force it. If they break it they can get Canon to replace it under Warranty.
