I can't find the information booklet on it, what does it mean when it beeps and has "E18" in the window? It means it cannot extend the lens. Unfortunately, it's not an uncommon problem. There are many articles on this failure in earlier A-series Canon cameras, including some fixes that may be worth trying. Search for canon e18 with yahoo or google. I had this on an A620 and tried several of the fixes to no avail, and ultimately sent it to Canon to be repaired. They repaired it free (I paid for shipping) and the camera has worked fine ever since. This is a problem that Canon has publically admitted to. They are repairing the problem at no charge. You need to take the camera, along with your bill of sale, to your local Canon repair depot. If there isn't one in your area, then bring it to where it was purchased.
You can find the addresses for Canon's depots on their website.
