I'm using Canon A570.
Should I turn off the IS function?
I'm suspecting also that its bcos I'm running on low system resources on my computer.
Whats the best ISO setting for to reduce noice, should I just leave it at auto? IS (image stabilization) only works to minimize incidental movement. If you're moving the camera around, it won't matter. According to your manual, IS is only used for still photos.
When I taught video classes, I had an important rule.
Always move the video camera much slower than you think you should. Reason? The final video image, on a screen, will have exaggerated movement. I remember viewing plenty of videos and getting motion-sickness!
ISO won't affect your jerkiness, but only affects the exposure (light level). To reduce noise, choose a lower ISO.
Check out page 35 of your manual, found here. Perhaps you need to choose a different movie mode.

IS on continuous.
use the 640x480 by 30 movie setting.
I have the 570
and the movies come out fine. |
