Which is a better compact digital camera- lumix lx2, canon d7 or leica dlux3?

The leica is a better camera then the Lumix. They have the same body, lens, and sensor. But the chip inside makes the difference. The Leica processor is a bit faster, and the photos are more lifelike. This is true with any of the Leica-Panasonic brothers. The camera is essentially the same, but the processor makes the difference. Canon point and shoots are good, but I think they are too user friendly, and less user creative.

I am saving up to buy a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2. Although it is a bit pricey, I believe in the long run I will get much useage from it.

I'm hoping you mean the Canon G7. They all should be pretty good. You ought to go to a camera shop and pick themup and see how they feel in your hands.

Check the sample images, also. You can enlarge these to full size images if you click on the link below the picture. You will have to then put your cursor in the white space to the right of the picture and click once. After that, you can pass your cursor over the image and it will turn into a magnifier. Click it as a magnifier once and the image will go to full size and you can really examine the detail or look for artifacts like fringing or noise.
