is there a way to replace only the lens of the camera for cheaper then it would be to buy a new camera If you sent in your warrenty and its only a year old send it to Canon. Theyll fix it for free if you did not inflict damage on it on purpose. If it cost you money, then Id say go buy the Canon A630 or A640. Both are extremely good cameras. I used the A630 before I got my Canon Rebel. Replacing the lens will run you close to $120+ after you pay for the repair and the shipping and everything.
If the dent is only cosmetic, don't worry about it.
Very few independent shops can do this repair, but there are a few of us that will. If the Camera still works, I suggest you continue to use it until you can no longer use it. Yes, the sad truth is, when it stops working, it will actually be a smarter move to purchase a New Digital Camera for less in most cases, than to get it fixed. If you saw what these cameras looked like once cracked open, you would understand why it is cheaper to purchase a new camera.
Extended Warrantys are not a gimmick, sometimes an extra $60 spent on an extended warranty at the time of purchase is worth the price of a repair or new camera! Spend $60 at the time of purchase or $200 later for a repair if the camera stops working. |
