Im i better off buying a Canon or Sony digital camera?

which one has less problems and better quality?

Acutally Nikon make some of the worst consumer cameras. Their SLR line is the one of the best though.

Canon makes the best comsumer camera in my opinion. They have really great imagine quality for their size. I would recommond them. Here are a few choices:

Slim and Small- No limit- Canon SD900
Slim and Small- $300-400 limit Canon SD800 IS (Has Imagine Stablization)
Slim and Small- $200-$300 limit- SD600 6MP

Ultrazoom- Canon S3IS (Has Imagine Stablization) 12X optical 6MP

Budget Camera- No limit- Canon A640 10MP 4X Optical Zoom
Budget Camera- Less than $300- Canon A630 8MP 4X Optical Zoom

Enutheist Camera- No Limit- ($500+) Canon G7 10MP 6X Optical Zoom

SLR- No Limit- Canon Mk-II $5000 w/o lens
SLR- $3000 - Canon 5D Full Sensor
SLR- Budget - Canon 30D
SLR- Below $1000 w/ lens kit - Canon Rebel XTi

I'd go for Canon. But that's just personal preference out of those two brands. What about another brand like Fuji or Nikon (I like Fujis, they're reasonably priced, and take a good picture - again, that's personal preference, though. Nikons are excellent, but seem to be rather expensive).

A sony has better quality and less problems. Ive had mine for about 6 months and have dropped it and done basically anything to it and it works better than my moms camera which is a cannon and she has always been careful and the thing wont soom in our out anymore. Stick with sony..

I hav both SONY cybershot which has 7.2 mp and CANON powershot A620 which has 7.1 mp . but I preffer SONY

canon is my first choice
sony is my second
kodak is my third

I'd go with the Canon personally. I have two Canon digital cameras. One is 7 years old and still going strong. I've taken some amazing pics with it even though it only has 1.2 megapixels (ancient!). The other is a digital SLR, again, amazing pics.

I've never owned a sony digital camera though so I can't comment on them.

My brand preference:
1) Canon
2) Kodak
3) Nikon

I say Canon for 2 reasons: image stabilization and SD memory. Personally I find the IS to be much better with Canon cameras and memory sticks are less common than SD and are much more expensive. Although I do like the Carl Zeiss lens in some of the Sony and Panasonic cameras.
