Are 35mm/Digital camera lenses interchangeable? |
I have a Canon AE1 Program 35mm film camera. If I were to purchase a Canon digital SLR would I be able to use the lenses from the Canon 35mm camera on a digital version? You can't use your current lenses on a modern Canon. The AE1 still uses Canon's FD lens mount system and all of Canon's models after 1987, including the digital lineup, use the EF (EOS) lens mount. Adapter rings won't solve this problem. Not necessarily. It depends on the size that attaches to the camera. Canon, in contrast with Nikon, changed the lense mount when introducing the EOS system. Any lenses for the EOS system, called EF, are interchangeable on any EOS camera, whether analogue or digital. Note that new EF-S lenses do not work on most EOS cameras (they are specifically designed for special low cost digital cameras). NO NOOOO |
