What is the best brand for digital camera. Sony, Canon, Nikon, Etc..... And model no for day to day photograph

Which is better? Chevy or Ford? Porsche or BMW? Mercedes or Lexus? Nikon or Canon? These are all unanswerable questions as they are all "the best" in their class, depending who you ask.

If you have no personal preference, perhaps you would do best by going with the recommendation of your local camera shop pro or a friend who has something that he/she likes. If you have someone who is willing to help you learn how to use a particular camera, add ten points to that brand in your decision making process.

If you want to get into model-by-model comparisons, we can do that, too. I'm a Nikon fan and prefer their line at almost every price point, but I also admit that the Canon is better for some people - if they really know what they are looking for.

Please post a new question. Tell us how much you want to spend, what you plan to use the camera for most of the time, and what your prior experience is with photography. With this information, we will be much more helpful to you.

No one answer suits everyone. Websites with comparative reviews are your best bet. My favorites are http://www.steves-digicams.com/ and http://www.dpreview.com/ - give them both a good reading and try again.

I have a Fuji camera, and I really like the 6x optical zoom plus the 3x digital zoom. If I had to do it over again, I would try to get a 10x or 12x optical zoom camera. I take quite a few pictures so I had to get rechargable batteries because I was really going through a lot of batteries.

Canon and Nikon.

We have several digital cameras used for different shots. Nikon, Canon and Fuji. We use the Canon Powershot (4mp, 3x optical zoom) and Fuji S5600 (5.1mp, 10x optical zoom) for everyday shots the Canon gives a better quality picture every time because of the lens quality but costs a bit more than the Fuji. You can get more features on the Fuji for the money eg 10x Optical zoom which is great for distance shots. Mega pixels are not so important unless you want to enlarge a photo significantly, the higher the mp's the larger you can go up in size without losing picture quality. If you are happy with 6x4's then 3mp is fine but the higher optical zoom the better.
The Nikon is far superior but expensive not necessary for your happy snaps although you can pick up Nikon Coolpicks for a reasonable price not sure how the features compare. Usually the lens quality is what drives the price, a Nikon will give a higher quality shot. Hope this helps.
