Nikon, has the best quality SLR and Digital on the market.
But in making this statment I must say they are also the most expensive.

each of the companies you listed has a cheap, moderate and and expensive model....and I would rate the cheap ones at 5 out of 10, to 8 out of 10...moderate would be 8.5 to 9.5 and expensive at 10 and slightly off the scale.

Well, my dad is a total tech geek and I asked him and he said definitely canon. He said that all the cameras we had were canons. There affordable and easy to use! Good luck camera shopping!!!

All cameras are good if they are handled properly.

I say Kodak . I have a Kodak digital camera, and I love it. It has good quality , but , never leave it on between pictures if it`s gonna stay on without use for more than 10 minutes . :D Hope This Helps!

I own an Olympus and I'm very happy with the quality and I think it's very easy to use. On the downside, it uses xD cards that are rare. I have heard canons are good.

well i've had Casio's'; thy r very good. thy can be small, but w/ good lens, good optical zoom for a small size. Panasonic's; not small in size, but very good lens and optical zoom, and options in a camera, u can even get an underwater housing. hps' i would say are average, but the have innovative tech on there cameras'; and w/ an hp print u can do some awesome pics.

Canon is great, make sure it has an anti-shake in it. DO NOT get a Fujifilm... quality of pictures for portraits are not great at all.
