I am getting ready to purchase a Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera and can't decide which lens to get. The lens that it comes with doesn't zoom enough for me. I typically take pictures of my kids- and I want something versatile so that I'm not having to switch lenses all of the time. Any suggestions? Not quite as much of a wide angle, the Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens (2007-$1,060) is a pretty good all-around lens. This review says, "If I had only one lens, this would be the one."

If the "L" lens is too rich for your blood, maybe the Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Autofocus Lens is a good choice at $515. At B&H Photo, 15 reviews gave it an average of 4.6 out of 5.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.... my general all around lens that I'm always using is the 28-200mm well, if you take portrait often. and on tight budget.
i will recommend you the 50mm f1.8 II (it's gonna be around 80+mm on your 400D). it's the cheapest lens in canon's line up and it simply out perform the kitlens in term of quality and speed.
if want a zoom lens to start with, get a 17-85mm IS instead of the kitlens. |
