I`ve had this digital camera since the summer of 2005 and lately, it just hasn`t been letting me zoom out; I am only able to zoom in ! I need HELP ! I would try the following. If the first one doesn't work, I'd move on to the next.
1) Remove the batteries and let the camera sit for a few minutes (real minutes, not a few seconds). Put the batteries back and test it. You may have a short and ensuring it doesn't have power could clear it up.
2) If there's a function to reset to factory default, do so then repeat number 1. It could be a problem with the camera and the software. Resetting to default configuration could resolve it if this is the problem.
3) Give the camera a gentle whack on the body (not the lens!). It could be a very small obstruction. A gentle (emphasis on gentle) whack could free a small obstruction.
4) Take it in for repair My only guess is that the analog zoom is malfunctioning and the digital zoom is working. If it would not zoom out at all it would be stuck in full zoom in mode by now. It is using one zoom correclty but not the other. it needs repair
