Nikon D50 (SLR camera) or Canon Powershot SD750 (Digital camera)?

You are asking if you should by a mountain bike or a Harley.

The Nikon D50 DSLR has a sensor that is about 15 times larger than almost any P&S camera.

Don't even think about it. Buy the D50. The lenses you will collect over the years will last for decades ... long after you have replaced the body ... with a P&S, you are dealing with replacing an inferrior camera every three to four years in any case

As you can see, there are a lot of features the D50 has, you will never find on any P&S camera (like the SD 750)

D50 is an excellent camera and it will outperform the Powershot in virtually every category.

However, all DSLRs are big and bulky compared to compact cams, and the D50 is no exception.

I find myself leaving my D50 at home because it's just too darn obvious and it makes me look like I'm from a big-city newspaper, which turns a lot of people right off.

Bottom line: if the size and social connotations don't bother you, D50 is the way to go.

Otherwise, invest in a pocketable, amateur camera like the SD750.

They are different cameras..I have a Canon Powershot SD750..It works great, i like it very much..It is easier to take than SLR camera. And it costs less.. a decent deal for it is only $170..

Well it's pretty obvious, the nikon d50. But like fhotoace said, their not really comparable.
