The difference between adobe bridge / light room / and my canon zoom browser software?

Hi all,

I just shot some pictures today in RAW, and was wondering what the best software is for viewing / editing RAW images is.

I have:
Adobe Bridge,
Lightroom,
and my Canon software (that came with the camera) Canon Zoom Browser EX.

I'm not sure what these programs do in terms of features, which is the best, and which one I should be using...!

Any ideas from RAW users?

Adobe Bridge is not a RAW converter. It is only a file viewer / organization program which is part of Photoshop CS2 and CS3. You cannot use it to process RAW photos.

Zoom Browser is a basic RAW processor, but can leave a lot to be desired as far as speed and function.

Light Room has much of the adjustment properties of Photoshop but without all the huge and varied abilities to manipulate photos. Whether or not Light Room supports you Canon RAW files or not I am not sure, but I *think* it does.

If you have Adobe Bridge, then you obvioulsy have Photoshop... right? Just open your RAW photos in Photoshop, and the Adobe RAW converter will open, and you can adjust and process your RAW photos right there, plus then do any editing in PS you want without having to bounce around from one program to another.

Well ideally you should use the canon software, because it should also allow you to convert the image from RAW fairly effortlessly as well as view them in their RAW state. It all depends on what you want to do with them in the long run really, if you can you could convert them in the canon software to a TIFF, then in lightroom retouch it all and then save it as a TIFF so that file can be used as a print, and then add a border after you've saved that file for print and save it as a JPEG, if you want to send it up into an online gallery or a blog or such as you wish to do.
