I love Nikons but Canon also makes good cameras so I would recommend the D60 by Nikon. The D60 is a great entry level DSLR. It will let you have control over your shots to go with your skill leve... All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what size memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can... Nope. Light can't damage the retina(except sunlight. Sunlight can cause damage). The only thing it can do is damage the cornea ( ... They are very close in terms of functions. P50 has a 28-102mm (35mm equivalent) zoom lens and A590 IS has a 35-140mm zoom lens. I usually want a long zoom, so I would pick Canon A590 IS. ...Both the ZR800 and ZR850 will be fine. I would suggest the ZR830 because it has a mic jack (the 850 does not). The ZR800 does not have manual audio control - but this is important only if you want ... I have a ZR700 and a Macbook and it works fine. I assume that nothing happening means that you have iMovie open, but the camera is not registering. I'm going to give you advice for iMovie 06, ... I also own a canon digital rebel (300D), and just got a computer with vista. You may want to just try plugging in the camera and seeing if the computer recognizes it. Otherwise, get yoursel...
