How do you find your camera on your computer?

I have a canon power shot sd75 and I have this stop motion program and it says that there is no camera. Please help ASAP.

The majority of digital still cameras, including "point and shoot" models like your Canon SD75 cannot be used with stop motion software because they don't provide a live video feed while plugged into a computer. Most cameras will automatically go into a hard drive mode to allow for file transfers. This is why your stop motion software can't detect your camera. A good webcam or camcorder is much easier to use for novice stop motion animators, since the majority of them can be easily detected by Stop Motion software. Using a digital camera for stop motion also poses a number of other problems as well. Its much much easier to use a high end webcam because it's so plug n' play that you can focus on animating, instead of focusing on finding a way to work around all the technical problems that come with using digital cameras for stop motion.

If the software, when opened, cannot "find" your camera, or doesn't recognize it, then it is one of two things:

1. The software isn't compatible with your particular camera; or
2. You need to obtain the most current driver for the camera from Cannon's website and install it.

Check with Stop Motion's manufacturer to see if the program is compatible with your camera. Then visit Cannon's website for the proper driver so your camera can be recognized.

If the camera is not compatible, you will need to find other software that is. Plugging it in and being able to see it via My Computer, doesn't mean it will be recognized by the software you want to use it with. You've gotta check the above 2 things as well.

Go to MY COMPUTER and try to find the removable disk (f) or whatever the name of the camera is and click on it and try to find the Pic you want.

Plug it in.
Go to 'my computer'
Find your camera amongst the hard drives etc and double click on it.
