Canon camera recommendations?

I really want to upgrade from my P&S camera and want to get a Canon because I've heard they are very good. Although I don't have much experience with Canon at all so don't know that much.

Can someone recommend a good Canon Camera?

I really like taking pictures of animals far away (such as at the zoo), macro shots, landscapes ect. A camera with good lenses. =]

People have recommended these:

Canon EOS 350D DIGITAL
Canon Rebel EOS XTi or XSi
Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Out of all of these which one has the best quality?

If you answer please tell me why the camera you chose is good. =)

It doesn't matter so much that you haven't had experience with Canon, what matters is how much experience you've had with any SLR camera. If you're comfortable with shooting in M or the creative modes like Av and Tv, you might want to consider one of the XXD cameras such as the 40D.

As for which has the best quality, a 350D with a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS is going to have much better quality than the 1DmkIII with a 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/notcamer... For the most part, you'll get much better quality with high quality lenses. With Canon, these are the L series lenses, though there are a few non L series lens that are equally high quality (such as the 100mm f/2.8 macro, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8).

I've shoot Canon for almost a decade now. When I started, Nikon was lagging behind. Now Nikon has caught up and is very good. (In fact, I think they are a little ahead of Canon now.) You might want to consider Nikon as well.

However, to get started in the Canon system, I'd recommend either the Digital Rebel XSi or XS. The XS is kind of a hybrid XTi and XSi, but at a lower cost. The XT and XTi are good cameras as well, but you'll probably want the newer technology.

Well the Rebel XSi has 12MP, so it will produce a larger image, but i would definitely choose the 1D any day of the week over the rebel even though it only has 10MP. Not only is it weather sealed, but it also has more Autofocus points making it easier to focus on exactly what you want to. There is one big drawback to this camera, it is build and priced for a professional with an MSRP close to $5k its not cheap, but with alot of things in life you get what you pay for. If you intend on making a living on this sort of time you might want to consider a camera like this other wise you might be more well suited by buying a Rebel and splurging on a couple of really good lenses and maybe even a flash.

I've had a Digital rebel, and a Canon 20d. I always felt kinda limited by the 300d, and the limitations is had. The 20d(canon has since replaced this model with the 30d) has been a great camera for me. It was enough camera to get me through several college level photojournalism classes. It incorporates alot of the more advanced features, while staying at an affordable price.
