I have a Canon MV750i digital camcorder and the screens gone black. Why?

I downloaded some photos to my computer and turned my camera off, put it away and when I came back a few weeks later the view finder shows black, it shows the time, date, how much power etc and that so there is power. I have the lense cap off. I have tried playing with the settings but all i see is black.

it probly got wet or something.i would take it back and see what happened.
