I bought this camera in December. Today I was out taking pictures and wanted some pictures of me with the surroundings. So I put the camera on timer and set it on a flat surface and pressed the button. I managed to take two pictures. But when I tried to take a third one, without touching anything on the camera, just walking over and pressing the button again, it didn't work. It wouldn't take the picture. Does anyone know what might have happened? I haven't done anything to damage the camera in anyway. P.S. no stupid answers like "sounds like it's broken" or "you should throw it away". I want someone who actually knows what they're talking about. I also tried multiple times, turning the camera off and leaving it and then coming back and turning it on and trying again. It still didn't work. Other than not able to take a picture, does the camera function? For example, can it still be powered up in review mode to view pictures that you've previously taken?
Anyways, you can email Canon's tech support here:

I've email them before, and they've always responded within a day. Since you've only recently acquired the camera, it should be under warranty - the worst case is that you'll be without the camera for a few weeks while it's being repaired. The camera will not take a picture if the camera cant not focus on a subject. Make sure the subject is not like a flat wall or a uniformed object, the camera freaks out. Try putting it into Manuel Focus. If the camera does not take a picture even in Manuel Focus, I would call Canon service. They can tell you different things more than us. Worst comes to worst, Canon may tell you to get it shipped to the nearest repair center near you. If you bought the camera from a relable source, Best Buy, Circuit City, Sammys, then the warrienty should cover the cost. |
