I'm trying to compress large avi files from my canon digital camera.
Digital Media Converter 2.7 works well, but is $39.
AVI Recomp is free, but does not do batch processing. SUPER may help you try it! It's freeware! I'm not sure that compressing Avi files is the way to go. The loss of quality is significant unless you make the video viewer postage stamp size. You can use a relatively cheap program called WinAvi Video Converter to very quickly convert the avi's to DVD. Then use a program called DVDshrink to compress the DVD's so that they will fit onto a single disc. If the file is small enough, DVDshrink won't compress it. WinAvi can also painlessly join files. |
