I have a new macbook and a new digital camera.
Unfortunately the software for the camera only works in OS9
(casio ex-z600 digital camera).
How do I switch to Mac OS 9 from OS X?
Hoping once I get into OS 9, I can install the software so I can download pictures to my macbook. At that point, if I download them to a file on my desktop, I'm assuming I can just pull them off using Iphoto and never have to go back to OS 9?

If your macbook is the new intel chip model, bad news. the chip does not support os9, it cannot proccess it. If it is not a intel chip you can run the Classic software which runs os9 in a window application. As far as downdating your OS-Don't do it. It could seriously **** up your computer.
Solutions:
Contact casio for replacement software. Having such outdated software on a new model is ridiculous-there must be another option.
Try plugging your camera directly into your laptop and seeing if it mounts on the desktop as a drive. If so, you should be able to copy the pics easily.
If all else fails contact a geeks sqaud or apple specialist in your area nd have them pull the files of the camera and copy them onto a cd. This should not cost you more than 20-30$.
Also, if you *just bought your comp, then you have 90 days of free phone tech support from Apple. call them and explain the issue. OS 9 does not come installed on the new Macbooks. If you can get to the Apple store, and ask them, they will install it for you.
Try running the camera without installing any software, mine down loads pictures just fine, but I have Kodak, don't know about Casio. well, to upgrade your com, youll actualy need to go and buy osx. However, if your trying to update your camera, theres an eaiser, cost freindly anwser. If your comuter is all ready in osx, simple go to http://www.applerescue.com/#os9 and download it. the program is $30. Then go change yout start up disk and restart yout comp in os9! Or if you want, try pluging the camera directly to com via usb or firewire. you may beable to veiw the pictures if it mounts as an removeablr disk drive. Hope it helps!
