I'm crying right now becuase my digital camera's screen is broken! I only bought it two months ago!?

I guess the LCD is broken, although there are no cracks on the outer glass. Its a casio exilim ex-Z75. Im sad because I am young and I spent all my money on it and so that I can take pictures at my new boarding school and send them to my old friends and my family, and now its broken. I worked hard for the money and I only bought it two months ago and its still under warranty but not for "careless or damaging use" which im guessing theyre going to try to tell me this is, even though ive only used it a few times and it was only in my purse. Almost the entire screen is white except one scragly line and then a black shape in the corner with a bit of the picture behind it but covered with multi-colored lines. Can this be repaired? For how much? Will the warranty cover it? Do I have to buy a new camera? I leave for school this friday!!! I really want pictures of the first day. PLEASE HELP!!

Actually, i didnt drop it or anything! it was just sitting in my room! and turns out the warranty is void anyway unless i have a receipt... AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

got a warranty? thats your only back up if no... uh oh

I have that same exact camera! Omgosh that really sucks. I hope somehow you'll get it fixed or get a new camera :( Thanks for teaching me that I really need to start putting it in a protected case instead of just dumping it in my bag.

Warranties do not cover water, gravity or miss use.

Contact Casio and see what they say. They may give you a deal, but don't count on it.

Digital cameras (actually all cameras) are sensitive instruments and need to be treated as such. No dropping, dipping or other abuses can be tolerated.

Does it still work? You technically don't need the screen to take a picture.

Sorry to hear about your camera, i know how you feel. I dropped a lens for my big slr camera a few days after i bought it... In your case you will have to take it or mail it to the casio service center.

One thing i have learned from dealing with customer service centers is that if the product is registered, they may be able to give you 10-15% discount on the repair. I don't think they will charge for the labour, just for the replacement parts. I know 10-15 % is not much but it helps.

Also, you could try to go back to the shop to ask for another receipt. Take the camera and they will check the serial number with their sales records and they may be able to help with it. With all the transactions being digitally done these days, not having a receipt is no longer a valid excuse to turn down a customer. They will definitley have it in their records.

Good luck.

If you honestly didn't drop your camera, and know that you treated it properly, the store/company should honor your warranty. Sometimes these things just happen. The only thing you can lose is your time if you take it back to the store. It will be a little difficult if you don't have your receipt. However, if you bought it with a credit card, it could still be on file as all of the bigger items at major stores have individual serial numbers which the store should keep track of.

Take it down to the store, and fight it! The warranty covers it and you did not treat it poorly. If the store doesn't take it back, simply send it straight back to the company. The biggest problem right now isn't the damage itself but rather the lack of a receipt. Try to find it in your house!!

Good luck.

warranty won't touch it
they charge $150
just to look at it
plus parts
you decide
a purse is not a camera case

Does it have a viewfinder? Then your best shot is to just use that. You can try contacting casio just in case. Remember, always compare models online before you purchase a camera, and definitely make sure to read the reviews (the negative reviews). Oftentimes, people used a camera for a few days and then post a review on how great it is. You need to read the negative reviews to see how it works over time.
