My camera went throught the washing machine. Is there any hope?

Its an Casio Exlim.
I paid about $200 less than a year ago.
It was in my jacket pocket and i forgot to take it out.
Went through the "quick cycle" in my washing machine.
Found it in there. Completly freaked out. It wouldnt turn on.
I took the battery and memory card out.
Currently its sitting over a vent in my house.
Is there any hope for it?

You can try drying it with a hair dryer, or leave it for a few days so that it can dry completely. Then try switching it on again. If the electronics in the camera aren't short circuit the first time u turn it on, then there may be some chance it will still work. The thing with electronic gadgets is that you shouldn't switch it on when it is wet, because the electric power from the batteries will short cicuit it.

Well, good luck!

No. Time for a new one.

Even if it dries completely out, it's still full of soap and minerals inherent to tap water.

Open the battery compartment and blow dry the hell out of it! If you dry the circuits it may be able to jump start itself again.

You blew all hope when you tried turning it on. Sometimes, you can rescue a wet camera by removing the battery right away and leaving it to dry for at least 3 days. Turning it on in while wet will fry circuitry. Water and electronics don't get along very well. Time for a new camera.

for your sake, I hope it still has life.

If a miracle occurs with your camera, please share your story and give hope to the millions of people that drop theirs in the pool, or a lake, or the ocean, or rivers and streams.

R.I.P. Casio Exilim. You can use it as a paperweight.

Enjoy shopping for your new camera. In the future, check all pockets before doing your laundry.

hmmm.. dry it and see...but usually it stand no chance...

We can only hope and pray that your camera will survive, but I think you should check the washing machine for quarters because you will have to buy a new camera.
