My mom is going to kill me or like beat me when she finds out?

yeah okay well I'm not pregnant or anything. but well i got this digital camera for christmas and it was $170 dollars. it's a Casio one and well i was messing around with it and i was making a video for youtube since it had that feature on it but i put it on the top of my apple computer and you know how thin those screens are so i was putting it up there and it fell while i was recording. well i picked it back up and i saw the lens was smashed in a little i tried taking it out but it did not work so i kinda (stupidly) smashed the whole lens back in .. then the top silver part of the lens came off and well now its broken... not turning on and hiding in my closet. I have no idea what to do and yeah telling my parents is not an option i also read the warranty and it said (just my luck) the way i broke the camera... cannot be fixed free. only by pay. So now i have 25 dollars only to fix a broken camera. please help.

TAKE IT TO YOUR MOM ASAP, if you're lucky the warranty might cover it. (lol sorry about the caps but i'm dead serious about that....)
this happened to me once. my lens got broken, but thankfully the warranty covered getting it fixed. yes, my mom was mad about it, but if i had hidden it and didn't tell her until it was too late for the warranty to cover it, ohhh man... that would've been bad lol.
if you give it to your mom she can do some more research and contact the company directly.
whats the worse that will happen? you might get grounded or something. it's not like it's like my camera, a Nikon D50, so the parts will be easy and cheap to replace. so you won't get in that much trouble.
tell her and good luck!

edit: but whatever you do, DO NOT break it anymore. i can't believe people are even suggesting that. what happens if the lens is all that needed to be replaced and it would've only cost $75 to fix and then you go and "break it more" so then it ends up ruining something even more expensive inside the camera? yeah, i'm sure your mom will be happy with that. then you'd be better off just buying a new one. just be 100% honest with her. she'll know it was an accident and that kind of stuff happens. just don't lie or make it any worse.

save the money to fix it or tell them

Honesty is the best way to go here. They will appreciate that you came to them with the truth. Accidents happen. It's not like you did it on purpose.

Okay... I did this once. I had broken the big gigantic lens off of my father in laws VERY expensive camera and the body of the camera was damaged too. I was SO scared, I hid the camera under the bed in the room where I was staying.

That night I got it to sort of look like it was put back together and the next morning I picked it up to "take his picture" and "accidentally" dropped it while he was standing right there. He yelled "OH MY GOD!" and I busted into tears. He was so upset that he "made" me cry that he wasn't even mad about the camera... it was an accident after all.

i'd also blame it on something like a pet or whatever.
say it was sitting on the table or the bed and the dog/cat jumped up and it fell off. be a little dramatic. lol.
say it happened while they left or something.

make sure it isnt covered by warranty first.
if it isnt then save up,
or keep it in your wardrobe all year and then say later on in the year that you broke it that day, so at least it isnt brand new.

But hey - remember,
i did this once, freaked out like you but told my mum.
because it was a present to me,
she said, "oh well. your loss.
you will have to pay to get it fixed or buy yourself a new one Kelsey. Or, wait 3 years until i would have bought you a new one anyway."

so chill! :)
Kelsey x

you could figure out a way to break it [[again]] that its covered by the warrenty then just say you dropped it after it was already broken the other way.

Okay, you don't have to tell them, unless they ask. Just simply say "It dropped, but don't worry, I'm being responsible and paying for it." Just save up the money and take responsibility...They expected you to take care of your camera or else they wouldn't have gotten you one.

Don't be a puss and lie about how it happened. I can't believe others would recommend that. Lying about something so trivial is retarded, lame, and most of all immature. There will be far worse things ahead of you in life that you will have to face, period. Just own up to it and get on with life.

Yes, it seems like a huge deal right now, but you know what? If you go to your parents RIGHT NOW, sit them down and tell them what happened, how upset you are, and how you intend to make it right (keeping dramatics to a minimum) you will impress them on a fundamentel level with your honesty and maturity, something that is seriously lacking in alot of teens.

The camera is broken, you can't change that- it's done. Hiding it in the closet, lying and hoping the problem will go away isn't the answer.

Confront the problem head on. You will most likely pleasantly suprise your folks, and I would also bet that you will be suprised at their reaction to your maturity.

Condensed story without irrelevant details:
You have a camera.
You broke it.
You want to know what to do.

Answer: Tell your parents. Things break. It happens.

Ooh. Thats bad. Save your allowance to get it fixed. Thats how I got my dad to buy my Sony Cyber Shot Camera. I had to pay him 52 dollars for him to buy my $179 camera. Plus he bought the memory card for it because it was on sale. The total came out 217. It scared me at first. Thats a lesson learned...Don't put your camera on top of the computer. Just tell your parents it was an accident and you're going to pay to get it fixed or buy a new one. Try Circuit City if you have to buy a new one. I got my camera from there and it was like 20 dollars cheaper than Sony's price for it. It was around Black Friday though.

Its only $25, be thankfully its not more, send it away, get it fixed and learn from your mistake..

blame it on a sibbling or pet. Say if you have a cat or dog that they knocked it over by jumping on the desk or something. I wanted one of those cameras they are so nice. I really would just save up to fix it.
