Casio's 60 FPS Camera?

What's your thought on the new Casio 6 mega pixel camera with 60 frames per second. Wouldn't that be just like a video camera? And plus there's a video mode with up to 1200 fps. Is this a Camera or Video Camera?

Antoniki: It's in Pop Photo's new issue, so it should probably be on their website pretty soon. I checked a little while ago, but have not seen the article yet.

Links please?

The casio doesnt record at 6MP @ 60 frames per second surely?

1200fps - no dont believe this - the shutter speed would have to be 1250th or faster - how big would the chip need to be to process that? 1200 images processed a second - come on now? How much light would be needed to create a 1250th shutter anyway? Now if it wrote to film sure its possible, possible on magnetic tape also but your talking digital with a ccd if its a still cam....

Nupe sorry dont buy it without links...

EDIT: thanks got the link and had a quick skim over it. They are using Sonys latest cmos sensor and electronics (like nikon do...ching ching).

Now the important part maybe you missed:

Standard: 640 脳 480 (30 fps)
鈥?HD: 1920 脳 1080 (FHD HQ/FHD Normal, 60 fields per second), 1280 脳 720 (HD LP, 30 fps)
鈥?Hi-Speed: 512 脳 384 (300 fps), 432 脳 192 (600 fps), 336 脳 96 (1200 fps) - copied and pasted from your link.

NOW if you are happy with prints from 336x96 pixels go hard dude.......... :)

PS: is fields per second a typo at dpreview or am I missing something again? - I think I might be will ask when next at Avalon - http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/826505/82070...

I have only seen the pre release ad stuff on it, so as with anything new, better to wait until a real, production unit is in the hands of objective testers to see just how good... or bad... it really is.

I take it as more of a movie camera than a still camera. It is actually not shooing still photos fast... it is shooting in it's movie mode SLOW... and you can individually pick out the photos from the 60fps rate.

Just my take on it. I don't think *I* would have use for that speed. Sports photographers may love it though.

... also, I think you are incorrect on the video capture speed. I believe it to be 300fps, not 1200.
