Which of these four digital cameras would be best for me? |
Asking for more opinions. I earned reward points in a gift catalog. I am choosing a digital camera. My primary use will be for candid photos, posting photos on E-bay and an occassional video. I like to be able to shoot quickly without a long delay from the camera. I would like it to be easy to see the screen outdoors. I need image stabilization. I want it to be easy to learn how to use. The best way is to go to a Best Buy or Circuit City or other store that has them on display. How the camera feels in your hands and pocket is part of the decision. Other than that, the newer the camera in general the faster it will take the photo. We have a newer Olympus and it takes photos at least twice as fast as our old digital camera. We decided against the EXLIM and Kodak based on online reviews and didn't even consider the Panasonic but I just checked Amazon and it seems to be well-reviewed and has better image stabilization than the Olympus. The Olympus also uses xD memory cards while the Panasonic uses more common (and higher capacity) SDHC cards. It's bigger than the Olympus but you'll have to hold each in your hand to make that decision. If you are outside in bright sunlight, you can't depend on the display to see what you are taking. You will need a camera with a viewfinder. The Panasonic for its Leica lens. The Olympus would be the 2nd. choice IMO. I'd probably get the Panasonic Lumix. I had one a few years back and it was really good. The newer point and shoots from Panasonic have built in image stabilizing, and packed full of features. |
