Casio 12megapixel camera?

i was thinking about getting it, yet when i read the tech stats it said that it can only store 2 pix and about 16 seconds of video. yes i know that it is without an sd card. but all of you that have an exilim, what do you think? is it a good deal. I kinda liked the 10 mp one and then i saw the 12 mp. which is the better deal?

First off, megapixels are not a letter grade to judge cameras by. If the lens is bad and the processor is slow, 12MP just gives you 12 million dots of crap. See this NY Times article if you don't believe me: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/08/techno...
In fact, too many megapixels can slow down a camera's processing speed, which Casio is prone to. Besides which, if 5MP is enough resolution to print a poster with, who needs 12MP anyway?

As someone who's worked with a variety of cameras, I can tell you that Casio lenses have a particular tendency to screw up. They lock and freeze, or something. I don't know what it was exactly, but a lot of customers in my shop complained about it.

Personally, I think Casios are difficult to use because the buttons are so tiny. And ease of use (or lack thereof) has a much larger impact on picture quality than MP!

When you are looking for a camera, the tech stats you should be concerned with are ISO (you want at least 1600) and the type of sensor. Also, you may want to know if the battery type is AA (i.e., drugstore batteries) or Li-ion (charges like a cell phone). Internal memory is irrelevant since everybody uses a memory card anyway.

By the way, Canon is known for better picture quality than Casio. A 5 MP Canon PowerShot could kick a 12 MP Casio Exilim's butt any day!
