What's a good camera.?

I want a good camera. Not a digital camera, but a really nice camera. What would be the cheapest options out there for a novice photographer?

And don't be stuck up. I don't know anything about cameras with the exception of digital ones. Don't be a ***** about it.

Yard sales, second hand shops can be a good way to pick up a used camera. After that Ebay comes to mind. Used manual focus cameras are amazingly cheap these days and still take fantastic photos.

I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but I find your question typical. People want a good camera. They want a nice camera. But they want the cheapest way out.

You can't have it both ways. They did the same thing with film point and shoots. They would get a camera with a respectable lens, and consistantly good reviews.

So what did lots of them do?

Used the wrong film speeds & cheapest processing.

What resulted?

Horrible pictures.

My point?

You get what you pay for. Take the cheapest route, get the worst results. If you want great pictures, then you need to spend money for quality equipment. Again, I'm not picking on you and I apologize if you see it differently.

If you want decent results, taking the cheapest way out is just a waste of YOUR money.

You may find a nice used 35mm SLR with lens for under $150.

Check the listings on craigslist in the area where you live. I picked up a Nikon N60 with a 28-80mm lens for my exwife for $50. It works just fine ... hardly used at all.
