Digital camera recommendations, good quality but fairly inexpensive?

Anyone have recommendations for a good camera...I can spend anywhere from $50-300, but the cheaper side would be nice.

It'd have to be fairly good quality pictures...video would be cool, but not necessary. That's really all I'd want from it.

A Canon Powershot A570 IS would do the job for you. It's 7 megapixel, takes good pictures for its class, have 4x optical zoom, does video and it's relatively inexpensive for ~$170.

I have the canon A570 IS camera, I bought a 2 G card for it. I like it pretty well, as the previous writer wrote, it has 7.1 mp, image stabilization and face recognition. It has several preset settings and takes a decent mini movie. It uses 2 AA batteries. You can add some lenses too. It has potential. I paid 250.00 in june at Bestbuy, that was including shipping.
I don't like the lag time when using the flash or when the batteries are getting low. I wish it had a higher optical zoom. It has 4 optical zoom. It fits great in my purse. It has a night shot so I tried it on vacation by taking a photo of the camp fire. Good photo.

I have a Cannon PowerShot 570. Great camera very versatile. (my favorite)... I also have a Nikon L5 not as many features but still a really good camera. Either way go ahead and get a bigger mem card at the same time. As far as I am concerned anything less than 2 Gig is a waste of money.
