What digital camera should a beginner buy?

I never bought a digital camera before, what type a camera should I get for a cheap price that is easy to use. Like # of pixels, memory etc

Don't forget to buy a memory card, because the one that comes with the camera is tiny and won't hold very many pictures. Ask for help at the store and buy a 512 MB card. Lexar and Sandisk are the best brands, but there are many others that will probably be just fine for you.

If you do not want to use rechargeable batteries, get Energizer e2 LITHIUM batteries. They are the best.

There all pretty good just don't buy one that's too complicated. Buy a simple one and then move up

my beginning camera was a Sony DSC-W50. I loved it and it was pretty simple to use. it should be around the low range of $200-$250 but it's totally worth it. takes great pictures, videos, big screen, lots of features. (3x optical zoom, combined with digital zoom = 14x zoom) a 256 mb held approximately 80 pics so maybe 512 mb?

simple point and shoot with great results.. really simple to use.
