What is a really good digital camera and is quite cheap?i would suggest a fuji or a canon compact.
here are some of my recommended steals on amazon: nokon l1,l6 and l7 really good for daily use just go for any with at least 3 million pixells,you can pick em up now for 25 to 30 pounds? depends on what you want? I like Canon and Sony.
I strongly suggest you getting one with optical zoom. I also suggest getting one that uses standard batteries like "AA". This way, you can buy rechargables but if you'd be stuck you can go basically anywhere and buy standard AA batteries to get you through your event.

As for price, i'd say $125 or better. Also check out some of the office places like staples, office max, office depot. they offer coupons you can find online where its like save $30 on a purchase of $150. I have an Olympus d-540 zoom which is really good but you could also try second hand ones which you can buy in some camera shops. Anything that is Canon. What is cheap? If you are not going to spend more than say $100- then go for the Fujifilm FinePix A500. 3X optical zoom, 5 megapixels. Should give you excellent 5X7 prints. Takes AA rechargeable batteries. Should be able to buy it for $90- fuji s700, nice crisp pics, for just alittle over $200 on amazon.com A optimus digital camera, check this out. It's very cheap but its quality is awesome. Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:
1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. Takes "continuous" 2 frames per second "action/sports" images;
4. Has macro feature for close-ups of small objects focused under 6 inches;
5. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
6. It's very small and light;
7. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
8. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
9. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
10. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
11. And the price is a mere $119 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]
