Want to buy my friend a good digital camera for Christmas. 拢60 limit?

I found a couple but I don't want to buy a cheap make that will break after a month or two. Would also preferably like it to have about 6 megapixels.

I have just bought my wife a kodak c613 off ebay for 56 pounds,only to see it advertised in Azda at nearly half normal price at 45 pounds.
she has just come back from a night in Benidorm with a 140 shots not all great subject matter but excellent quality .it is a 6 megapixel camera and equals my sony ws 55 in performance ,its a great value little camera and nice to look at in black or silver.

I would steer clear of Vivitar. Had one myself was complete rubbish. You can't really beat Amazon or Argos prices though.

buy a good second hand one on ebay

if your buying from amazon id go for samsung alot better name better quality and probably has a good waranty or try ebay lots of cheap cameras going on there

A good camera is down to the quality ofthe lens, not the number of pixels. You can have all the megapixels in the world, but if the lens is poor, it will take a poor picture. For that reason avoid vivitar; their lenses are rubbish.

I always go for Nikon simply because most professional photographers I know, use Nikon cameras. You can get a Nikon Coolpix L series within you budget from ebuyer here: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/107490. But any cheap Kodak, Canon, Pentax or other established camera maker will do, but don't let the number of megapixels drive your choice.

You could get a Canon for that price with 7 or 8 megs
